I've been playing around the idea of a facility on an island. Now, abandoned by man, the island's many factories are maintained by a number of giant robots. Some of the robots have fallen due to lack of maintenance or the islands inhospitable terrain. I turn the remaining active robots have begun to cannibalize their fallen brethren.
The shape and design of the robots would indicate that they were created in the 1950's... But who made them? And where did they Go?

The Inspectors
A strange group of individuals, possibly a secret organization, who always seem to show up just after a catastrophe. First recorded accounts of the Inspectors was during the black plague. Through the ages these reclusive men have been sighted around the world, usually in pairs. The Tunguska Event, Hiroshima Nagasaki, Nazi Germany, Roswell, 9/11. Easily identified with their ornate masks and prim and proper attire, the Inspectors have been spotted during world wars, natural disasters & anomalous events.
It is unknown if they have anything to do with causing the events. However some conspiracy theorists believe they are anthropologists who cause the events in order to study how people react. These same conspiracy theorists often say they are aliens, but that's pretty much par for the course as far as conspiracy nuts are concerned.

100 percent
In the latter half of the 21st century Dynamic Global, a major weapons manufacturer, started a new division offering health insurance at rates staggeringly lower than all competitors. The plans were comprehensive and included many additional features at no extra charge. The plans were just what the, still comparatively, under-covered American Population needed. Under the vale of giving back to the people, the insurance policies were cleverly worded as half insurance policy, half consent for human testing. The infamous "100 percent " policy was a Damage & Dismemberment plan did not give the patient a choice in procedures. The only mandate of this policy was to restore the patient to "100 percent" of human capacity. Dynamic Global was effectively using the American population as a basis for research and testing. Individuals hurt in accidents would be cared for, but often the patients that survived felt that the procedures completed to restore their capabilities were too invasive. Most patients surveyed stated that they would have rather been left slightly disabled, rather than have to have their bodies modified to such an extent. Just fewer than one-hundred-thousand "100 percent" policies were sold before the division stopped offering it.
6521 policy holders required use of the "100 Percent" policy. They received new limbs, eyes, legs and even organs. 6385 of those were brought back to what Dynamic Global deemed "100 Percent". The remaining 136 either died or were left without sufficient mental capacity to be restored. After treatment, all but one of the 6385 enlisted in the armed forces. Each stated that they felt they should give something back after being given a second chance.

Intergalactic Bounty Hunter
When mankind ventured beyond their galaxy and began to intermingle with other races, they quickly found that every other alien race had their share of problems. No benevolent higher beings to show them all what they had been doing wrong. Sure, there was a lot of advanced races, but none willing to just volunteer their wealth of knowledge. At least, not for free. Unfortunately earth had all but run out of natural resources, at least the ones any aliens would want to get their (Insert hand-like holding appendages here) on. And, so men and women went out to find riches in the newest frontier. In doing this they dictated their niche in the galaxies. Criminals, Pirates, Outlaws and General Miscreants were the first impressions of mankind in the intergalactic community. Not strong or smart, by comparison to most of the other space-faring aliens, but with an ability to look at situations and turn them on their head, in such a way that they could come out ahead...as long as they could get away fast enough. The other alien races had criminals too, but mankind had taken it to another level. Uniting the dregs of many different societies, some even warring with one-another, became brothers in direct offense to the "Good" of the intergalactic community. Some alien races wanted to eradicate mankind, like a disease. Before any eradication could take place, word started to trickle in about human and alien criminals being delivered to the appropriate authorities. As the other races learned, aside from being damn fine criminals, mankind also stood out from the other races on two other ways. The first was the ability to track patterns, and predict the next move during complex events, "Going with your gut" turned out to be an ability unique to mankind. The second was to act in opposition of others, stubbornness. As the criminal side of mankind was flourishing. Individuals out in the galaxies were not so keen on seeing mankind being represented by a bunch of thugs. Justice had been taken into the hands of mankind. And so the infamous Human bounty hunters appeared. Normal citizens who decided that justice needed to be served.
Crosby Gulling, one of the most famous bounty hunters is a man of few, but potent words. He'll go after the worst and rarely lets a bounty get away. It is said that he had his arm vaporized while bringing in some particularly bad weapons dealers. After apprehending the thugs he used the reward to purchase a new robotic arm. When asked if he still wanted his jacket (the sleeve had been vaporized and the shoulder had been discoloured by his own vaporized flesh, and some people wouldn't want to be reminded) He replied "No" and explained that he didn't see the need, as his new arm wouldn't have any need of being protected from the elements. His belt buckle was a gift from one, most appreciative, alien race, after he bought in their home-world's most dangerous mass-murderer. It's not only fashionable, it has come to be a symbol of elite bounty hunters. a symbol to be feared if you are a criminal, and respected if you are anyone else.

Bio-mechanical Suit
Biomimicry is a new field of research. In the near future the ideas and tested design of nature will be implemented into new areas, including body armour. This suit is the direct result of looking to nature for guidance. It's actually a genetically engineered parasitic fish, a cephalopod, with hundreds of other organisms integrated into its DNA. Since it is technically a fish, the "host" is able to breath under water. The outer layers of the suit are similar to a clam shell, light-weight, thin but about one hundred times stronger. In tests the suit was able to withstand 9mm gunfire, often the bullets actually deflected off the suit due to the smooth curved shapes. The rows of spiked protruding from the chest are direct lines to the hosts lungs, these act as the gills while underwater, and also supercharge the hosts own lung capacity. The outer skin can change colour for camouflage, like an octopus. The fish is a parasite, but the engineering has created benefits to the union. The host shares blood with the suit, during this process a chemical cocktail is also produced that mimics the human body's own defenses, this keeps the host in peak form for combat. The suit also feeds off the host, but only dead skin cells and other waste. All the different aspects of the suit leave the host with a flexible, strong and resilient armour solution.
The union of fish and Host is not easy, the host must approach the fish in the water and be "chosen" by the fish. It will swim towards the host and attach itself. Once the union is done the fish will only link with that one host. In early attempts the union was forced, using an array of different methods, but this left the hosts dead or severely disabled. the fish is a fully functioning organism. It breeds naturally and only mature fish are allows to be used for service. The benefits of the suit have caused some problems with addiction to the super-human abilities that come with wearing the suit. With addiction comes dealers. Most black market suits are of poor genetic quality. This is because the lower quality specimens have a lower chance of rejection with a host. Unfortunately these fish don't produce the correct balance of chemicals and usually cause paranoia, rage, dementia and other psychological problems. As a fail-safe in the initial engineering of the fish, these poor genetic specimens are red in pigment, and cannot change colour.

Gor
Llewelyn Gordon, was a good cop. Until he got too close to a prominent crime syndicate. He and his partner Bob Ludd were blown to bits in a by a car bomb. All that was found in the wreckage was Gordon's arm, and a 4 litres Ludd's Blood. Now with a stack of Cold cases and a lot of gusto, they are...
